GoPro Pole “GoPole”
DIY Video
Supplies needed:
Old ski pole, glue (Gorilla glue, JB Weld, ect.), GoPro Screw and Acorn Nut (size 10 bolt and nut from GoPro mount), 1/4 inch nut (spacer), vice or hammer, C clamp, drill, size 10 (standard) drill bit, metal saw or pipe cutter, pencil, GoPro
Instructions:
1. Cut the pole to a comfortable length (I did 2 feet)
2. Take 2 inches of the cut off end of the pole and flatten it using the vice or hammer. (make sure flatten part is completely flat, no bumps on edges, also make sure the flattened part is aimed down when holding the handle of the pole.)
3. Put the GoPro so it is stuck on the pole in the corner of the flattened section. Mark the hole using the pencil. Do this on both flattened corners of pole.
4. Drill the marked holes using the size 10 drill bit ream it out a little so that GoPro bolt slide smoothly through it.
5. If the edges broke while flattening pole stick a flat screw driver it the opened and bend it open slightly and apply glue inside the opening. Make sure that the edges and corners have ample amount of glue. Clamp it down snugly, making sure all corners receive pressure from the clamp. If not add a piece of wood onto the pole so that pressure from the clamp is distributed evenly. Let this dry for the allotted time for that type of glue.
6. If you are using the acorn nut and 1/4 inch nut as I did then put some glue on the edge of one of these making sure no glue gets in the hole. Using one of the GoPro mounts that has the two brackets, as the GoPro case does, put the bolt through the hole then the 1/4 inch nut (spacer) on the end of bolt then making sure there is glue on the outside edge screw the acorn nut on to the bolt until it is snug. Let this dry for the allotted time for that type of glue.
7. Put GoPro on pole insert bolt and screw nut on till it is tight and the GoPro doesn’t move.
8. Shoot some awesome stuff!!
