Working on Dads 2011 summit 800r etec 154. Chain case oil change and chain tensioned.
How to,
Tools needed:
10mm wrench
10mm socket and matching ratchet, (extensions help)
8mm wrench (magnetic/check plug)
17mm wrench (exhaust sensor, and locking nut in chain tensioner if needed)
Spring puller (I used vice grips, dont have a spring puller)
Flat blade screw driver (helps with removing filler cap)
3/16 allen key/tool to tighten or loosen chain tensioner if needed.
Funnel
Drain pan
Oil of your choice (I use xps full syth chain case oil from doo)
Never seize if desired
Procedure
Remove exhaust sensor (17mm)
Remove all springs
Remove exhaust can
Undo electrical connection on cover
Lossen all 10mm bolts holding on chain case cover (should be 6, lossen of bolts enough to get the oil draining, once most of oil drained continue removing cover, ay bolts out in pattern, not all the same, also remove magnetic /check plug, clean off)
Check chain tension and adjust it properly, back off lock nut (left hand thread, 17mm, use 3/16 allen key/tool to adjust accordingly, tighten lock nut)
Remove black filler cap (at top of cover with overflow hose connected), best way is from inside out with flat blade screw driver for assistance, dont rip!
Clean throughly and install cover. (tighten bolts to snug, then work your way around and seat case evenly, then tighten)
Fill case with your choice of oil, about 250ml, but go by magnetic/check plug as well, pour slowly and once oil seeps out of hole, intstall plug.
Install filler cap
Reconnect electrical connection
Fit exhaust can and start installing springs
Install exhaust sensor, (putting some never seize on the threads is never a bad idea…)
Go over everything again and check level after first ride, (just lossen off magnetic/check bolt and if oil seeps out, happy times, if not top up level.)
Hopefully I didnt miss a step, appolagize, polagize if i did!
