Key to locking your bike is making it harder to steal than the other bikes around. Here are my top tips:
- Pick a secure location where the ancor points are secured in the ground and not bolted to it.
- Make sure you lock both the wheels and the frame to your ancor point.
- If using a D/U lock make sure there is no free space in the lock, this will help prevent people jacking the lock apart.
- Avoid cable locks, as these are easy to cut through.
- Chain locks are good if the shackles are thick but make sure you don’t let them get near to the ground, as then they are easy to attack with a compressed gas (to cool it) and a flame (to heat it) and then smash it with a hammer.
- Remove all of your accessories.
- Make sure you secure your saddle and saddle post.
