Toy
Hello everyone! Well it bothered me so much on how horrid the design was I spent several hours last night studying this knife and I figured out how to make it MUCH better.
Before: The blade was very difficult to open
After: The blade is slightly difficult to open
THE FIX: Cut out the excess handle that was rubbing on the blade, grind down the area where the locking arm meets the back of the blade and replace the crappy washers that it came with.
Before: The clip would tears pant pockets
After: The clip no longer tears pant pockets
THE FIX: Using two T8 hex screw tips and one T6 hex screw tip I was able to remove the clip and use locking pliers to reshape the clip.
Before: The tip of the blade would stick out slightly when closed
After: The tip is fully in the handle when closed
THE FIX: Re-bent the metal rod where the locking arm is so it allows the blade to fold in all the way.
Before: The blade would fail the reverse shock test
After: The blade now passes the reverse shock test with flying colors
THE FIX: Grind down the area where the locking arm meets the back of the blade so that the locking arm fully matches the receiver.
After you do ALL of that then this blade might be considered as an EDC. It’s still no survival knife or shouldn’t even be in the survival series but at least it’s now half way decent.
