Hey guys, welcome back to Knifehog.com! Addison here and today I’ll be reviewing a tool that serves as the ultimate wingman: the Leatherman Wingman Multi-Tool.
Whether you are on the go or need to get some much needed work done around the house, the Leatherman Wingman Multi-Tool has all the tools you need to get the job done. Although the Wingman has an overall closed length of 3.8″, it weighs 7 ounces so it is a bit too heavy to be considered a standard EDC tool but it is definitely compact enough to carry around in your pocket comfortably. The Wingman is equipped with a total 14 tools that can aide you in a number of ways. To name a few, there are needle nose pliers that can grip and twist small screws and copper wire, a one handed open combo pocket knife constructed of 420HC stainless steel for when you need to do some light cutting and chopping, a wire stripper for electrical work and a pair of wire cutters. Unlike most multi-tools, the Wingman has a replaceable pocket clip so you can clip it to the outside of your pocket or on a backpack.
Overall, the Leatherman Wingman is an effective multi-tool. It comes equipped with all of the tools you need to handle just about any task and is the ideal tool to have with you in the house, on the job or even at a campsite. Although this is a well designed tool, it does have one major flaw: the pliers on this multi tool are unevenly designed. Although this may sound like an aesthetic issue, the reality of it is that the wire cutters become unusable due to the fact that the metal at the tip of the pliers is slightly elevated on both sides, which prevents the pliers from closing enough to allow the wire cutters to overlap. In spite of this, the other tools are fully functional and it is still a decent tool to have on you for simple tasks.
