  • Click here to buy the BETA 1491 Oil Filter Wrench — https://www.trident-supply.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=3178-014910001&Click=820

Beta recently released a new design for an oil filter wrench, that is a huge improvement over traditional “strap wrenches”. Basically they eliminated the need to have the wrench rotate only in one direction, and instead it physically clamps down onto an oil filter and will allow you to loosen or tighten it very easily.

I first read about these online last month, and have been very impressed with the wrench in general. Not only does it work exactly as advertised, but it also does not damage the filter at all….even though it is clamping down on it with an extreme amount of force.

Check out the video to see exactly what I am talking about, and I think I was able to show the advantages of this wrench over a traditional strap wrench….or even a pair of oil filter pliers, since it works great & does not damage the filter.

    Thanks for watching!

DIY corner clamp (jig) for wood or metal work. I’m too cheap to buy ready made ones. This is made from a couple of dollars of 6mm plate steel purchased at a hardware store.

In the past when I’d try to weld something like this I’d get serious shrinkage movement, so I found a trick. I’ll show you in the video.

(Just realized I keep saying “warped” when I really mean pulled out of square.)

I wanted really square, 90 degree angles so work pieces sit solidly in place. I did not use angle iron for the edges (they have rounded “corners”).

Tip: Before using the corner clamp, rub an old cutting or grinding wheel over the surfaces to knock off anything from prior jobs that will keep the work pieces from laying flat (like BBs).

Welded at about 62 amps with Kobe 6013 2.6 mm rod. DC welder with electrode positive.
No, I’m not a pro welder, just a weekend welding warrior, home DIY fixit guy. Comments on improvements are welcome.
