This is a step by step instructional video on how to replace the spider gears inside a Ford 7.5 & 8.8 open differential. While I’m working on a ’98 Ford Mustang, this video applies to many Ford models & years since these rear ends have been in use for decades.
I show many tips & tricks to make this job quick, easy & painless. The actual labor part of this job takes about two hours. If you use RTV for the differential cover gasket then you’ll have to wait 12 to 24 hours for it to properly cure before adding fluid. There are gaskets available at most auto parts stores that work very well too that don’t have a wait time.

This was in February, last winter when Serenity's front tooth was loose. She decided that she needed the tooth fairy money ASAP and even if she had to yank her tooth out with pliers, it was coming out. After catching her in my toolbag eyeing my linemen pliers I decided to give her another idea.
