This is an instructional video demonstrating a very underrated usage of Vise-Grips,
Replace your car disc brakes with our step by step guide.
Step 1: Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel.
Step 2: Find the two slider bolts that hold the caliper in place
Step 3: after removing the bottom bolts the caliper pivots up
Step 4: The brake pads are now exposed and the retaining clips hold them loosely in place. Simply slide the old brake pads out
Step 5: you can compare the new, thicker brake pad, next to the old, worn-down brake pad
Step 6: New pads almost always come with new clips, which allow the pads to slide back
Step 7: Apply graphite-based grease that comes with the brake pads to the clips to keep them from squeaking.
Step 8: The new pads slide into place as easily as the old ones did when they came out, though sometimes the new clips will be tighter
Step 9: Return the piston in the caliper to the fully-open position. Use a C-clamp or vise grip. With new brake pads, this piston must be opened all the way before the new pads can be installed.
Step 10: Re-install and re-tighten the slider bolt. Straighten the car’s wheels, re-mount the tire and tighten the lug nuts.
