Used to have a lot of trouble getting these clips to secure.
Use a pair of vise grips and a flat head screw driver.
Did not need to modify the clip like a lot of people suggest.
Open your vise grips and secure between the top of your clip and the bottom of the can housing.
Squeeze and push in.
Should get you pretty close.
Then close your vise grips and beat the clip in.
Much much much easier then using your hands.
These clips used to be the death of me.
