How to Install A Phone Line
See All Phones:https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/home/home-electronics/landline-phones-two-way-radios.html
After you renovate or re-decorate, you may need to add a new phone line.
Here’s what you’ll need to do the job:
•A set of insulated precision screwdrivers
•Needle nose pliers
•Wire cutter/strippers
•Cable clamps
•Hammer
•A phone jack box
•Phone cable
Start by installing the new junction-box in the desired location.
Then, remove the old junction-box cover. You’ll make the connection here later.
Using the cable clamps, fasten one end of the extension cable close to the old junction-box, allowing 6 to 8 inches of cable for the connection.
Run the cable along the baseboard to the new junction-box, fastening the cable every foot or so with the cable clamps.
Put the last fastener close to the new junction box, and cut the wire allowing 6 to 8 inches of cable for the connection.
Remove about 2 inches of the outer sheathing from the wire, and using the wire strippers, expose about ¾ of an inch of bare wire.
Use the pliers to form a loop and connect the cables to the colour coded terminals. Make sure the connections are tight and snap the cover shut.
Finally, make the connection in the old junction box the same way.
Close the cover.
Test the new junction box, and you’re done.
