I’ve been using the ‘other’ locking pliers for years. Some name brand, some off brand with varying degrees of success. After trying these AutoGrip pliers, I might be a convert. It takes some getting used to, but once you figure out the tension screw, they work very well and in many ways are more convenient than the other pliers I mentioned.
