HOW TO PULL ENGINE BOTTOM END APART & REPLACE PISTON AND RINGS:
0:55 – tools
2:57 – remove starter and stator cover
3:35 – remove flywheel, water pump drive adaptor, coupler/starting gear
4:50 – Split engine case to get to connector rods
7:21 – remove chain guide and oil tube
6:26 –Pull connector rods and pistons
8:37 – inspect cylinder bore
9:46 – remove piston rings and measure ring gap
11:24 – remove old gasket material
12:05 – Inspect seals on crankshaft, counterbalance shaft seals, timing chain
13:03 – connector rods and pistons
13:48 – remove old connector rods from pistons and reinstall on new pistons
14:31 – install circlip and rings on new piston
15:50 – install new pistons into bore and connector rods
17:26 – Torque down connector rods (two-stage process)
18:26 – reinstall main bearings for crank and use crankcase sealant to coat perimeter and important points on stator cover
19:47 – reinstall oil tube and replace stator cover
20:04 – reinstall crankcase bolts in right sequence
20:55 – reinstall coupler/starting gear, chain tensioner guide and flywheel
Learn how to inspect cylinder bore, seals on crankshaft, counterbalance shaft seals, timing chain. Then, learn how to pull the bottom end of your engine apart, including how to remove pistons, connector rods, starter, stator cover, flywheel, water pump drive adaptor, coupler/starting gear, and chain guide.
