Update: The “special metal holder” is not very special at all. It’s two wooded parallel clamps, one holding the other. The vertical one is holding a pair of vice grips. You can find them at any home improvement store.
The solder in the video is lead-free silver solder. The same kind used to solder copper pipes for potable water.
