    Audio Transcript:
Hi, Dave Wilson here. And today we’re going to look at the latest Tronex pliers, and if you thought quality was expensive, it’s time to think again. Follow me. So these are the Tronex Round Nose Pliers. Now there’s a couple of versions of these, these are the long pointed ones. They also make a version where the tips are a little bit shorter. So they might be good for getting a bit more leverage, a bit more power. You can see the length here, these are just under 5 inches. They’re pretty much the same size as the others but the thing that varies is the length of the tips. Now if you take a better look at these, you can see the tips really are beautifully, beautifully machined, they’re perfectly smooth, the tips come together tapered beautifully and they come together at the tips absolutely, perfectly aligned. Now the reason for that is this design of the joint that Tronex have come out with. You see on one side you have this kind of hexagonal knot which goes all the way through. And then there is a sleeve system on the other side. Now according to Tronex, this design allows them to keep the tips of the pliers perfectly aligned and, well, let me assure you, it works, it works. [Watch video for more info]

*Turn on the Closed Captions for a better insight into each piece of mangled metal.

Master Lock M1 dismantled with nothing more than a Vice-Grip plier.

You can see the aftermath of attacking this weak lock with nothing more than a pair of Vice-Grip pliers.

The outer shell of the lock is garbage, weak to physical attacks and completely inadequate for safety. The rivets are not steel, but some soft material, almost behaving like aluminum.

I simply used the Vice-Grips to first tear off the thin end caps like peeling an orange, then the outer decorative sheath fell off, then I peeled the 4 non-captured rivets out of their places, then sheared the remaining rivet heads off by levering them with the flat side of the wire cutter in the Vice-Grip and finally simply peeled the end plate off exposing the core which fell out easily with the actuator and ball bearings after a light tap on my palm.

You can see the end plate with all of the rivets twisted around at the top of the white towel and all of the twisted metal is the two end caps.

This is quite a sad display of a lock.
