Demonstration of the IR-1 Internal Cable Routing Kit.
https://www.parktool.com/product/internal-cable-routing-kit-ir-1
Take the guesswork out of installing cables, wires, and housing inside the frame. The IR-1 speeds the internal frame routing of electric wires, shift cable/housing, brake cable/housing, and hydraulic tubing on carbon fiber, Ti, and aluminum frames. Kit includes three plastic coated 250cm cables with attached magnets and unique fittings, plus an external guide magnet to speed operation. Opposite polarity magnets on cables seek and attach inside frame tubes, making it easy to route through frame entrances and exits. Works with any size frame including tandems.
Taxidermy series 1 squirrel w/ Brad
in this series i will be instructing my apprentice on how to taxiderm a squirrel. please look in the description below to see a list of supplies needed to complete this project
he is a little shy to start with, but once we do more videos i am sure that you will find brad to be as entertaining as myself (off camera he is a riot!)
supplies:
*a small animal to taxiderm (preferably salvaged, i do not encourage or condone the killing of animals exclusively for artistic purposes)
*examination gloves . choose a snug fit to give you a good grip. you can use whatever kind of glove you like, they can be latex, vinyl, or even a good fitting pair of rubber dish washing gloves( some of these even have grips built in!) it is not 100 percent necessary to wear gloves, but it is always a good idea to wear them, especially if you have any cuts or chapped skin on your hands.
washing procedure:
* shampoo and conditioner (optional) to wash your animal in prior to and after skinning to remove any dirt, bugs, or blood from the animals fur. antibacterial soap is suitable but not necessary. i personally like to use scented body wash
*paper towel or cloth rags for drying your animal after their bath, as well as to help gain more grip in skinning later on
Skinning procedure:
*scalpel and blades (i am using a number 15 blade on a number 3 handle in this video)
* small wire cutters (these are used to easily and cleanly break the femur bones)
*paper towel
*dissection tray, or any tray that you can do your work on. this helps to make your clean up easier, and helps with quick storage of the animal if you need to step out for a moment or two (like in my house i will put the tray in the fridge if i need to go to the bathroom to keep the cats from stealing off with my animal) if you do not have a tray or plate to use for this purpose, you can tape plastic garbage bag to your work surface or cardboard (if you wish to keep your work surface portable.
mannequin materials:
*cotton balls
*polyester quilt batting or felt sheets
*thread, fishing line, or sinew
*stainless steel snare wire, or any other non rusting wire.
*sewing needles
*scissors
* round nose and flat pliers
finishing/preservation materials
*borax powder (this can be found in any supermarket as a laundry additive)
*pipe cleaners
*glue
*natural clay (you can also use synthetic air dry clay) for shaping the face
*safety eyes that fit the animal. use a natural color with pupils that match the natural pupil of the animal
*sharp, thin sewing needle and thin sinew for closing the incision.
*cardboard to pin animal into position as they dry. once dry the animal can be moved to their permanent display
