This is a 2012 Toyota Prius EGR and EGR cooler remove and install. We removed this at 140k to clean the carbon build up from the exhaust gases over time. It keeps the engine running more efficiently. If the EGR system gets clogged, combustion temps will get too hot and will damage engine in the long run. If you get code p0401 egr flow insufficient, its caused by excess carbon, and doing this will help clear the code. If it’s clogged excessively, then you might have to replace the parts.
