Obamacare and its one-size fits all, top-down, authoritarian vice grip on our health care system. Here’s the latest: 11 million employees of small businesses are going to see their health care premiums increase. Why? The higher rates are because premiums can no longer be based on a person’s age. That is, premiums are now higher for younger workers and lower for older workers.
Please take a look at the new line of Made in the USA hand tools from IDEAL. The 30-3430 Wireman™ Linemans side cutting plier is a quality tool that will give you many years of service.
IDEAL Made in America Hand tools
Hi folks it’s Ron
At a time when some companies are taking manufacturing jobs overseas, our commitment to American-made quality and homegrown manufacturing has never been stronger.
At Ideal, we are committed to American quality and the American electrician.
Electrical contractors always value good-quality hand tools that provide many years of service in the field.
For electricians the side cutting plier is the number one tool they reach for more than any other tool in their tool pouch.
Take a look at our new line of linesman side cutting pliers, diagonal cutting pliers, needle nose pliers, tongue and groove pliers, cable cutters, and multi crimp tools.
They are all completely made here in the USA.
In this video we’ll take a look at our 9 1/2” Wireman Smart grip side cutting pliers.
It is our catalog number 30 – 3430 and if you like to learn more please contact our customer service department or visit our website.
It is made with premium quality tool steel which provides excellent durability and has precision mated knife to knife blades for easy cutting of conductors, hardend wire, bolts and ACSR.
The smart grip textured grips provide a sure grip and is impervious to gas, oil and hydraulic fluid.
The grip will always maintain its textured surface over the life of the tool and will never turn shinny and smooth like some competitors plastic grips.
The handles are also color-coded to help identify the tool in your pouch. Yellow for pliers, red for cutting tools and blue for tongue & groove and multi-crimp tools.
For the guy’s out there who are color blind.
They also have raised letter icons on the handles for quick identification in a tool pouch that can be felt by hand when reaching into the pouch.
The tool feels great in the hands, is nicely balanced and opens smoothly with one hand.
Most electricians when handed a new sidecutter will hold the tool up to a light and look at the cutting blades to see if there’s any daylight between them.
If you see daylight between the blades then the blades are not cutting fully through a conductor.
A simple test is to cut the corner of a piece of paper with the knife to knife cutting blades and if it cuts the paper cleanly you are good to go.
Another test is to see how easily the handles of the side cutter open.
Simply hold the plier in one hand and if you can easily open and close the plier then the flush ground rivet holding the two halves of the plier together is not adding any fatigue to the electricians hand when using the plier.
So there is no need to oil the rivet and “break in” the plier until it does open smoothly
Electricians use them for cutting and stripping conductors to length and twisting the conductors together when making electrical connections.
The nose of the plier is specifically sized to debur the end of a conduit.
For ¾ and 1” conduit the entire nose of the plier will fit inside the conduit and by rotating the pliers will debur the conduit.
For ½” conduit use only one half of the nose of the plier.
In the middle of the plier between handles is a cam action fish tape puller to grab hold of a metal fish tape when pulling wires through conduits.
It will not mare or damage the metal fish tape and allows the electrician to pull on the tape with just one hand.
Plus there are two crimping dies a U shape and Flat die to install insulated and noninsulated terminals on the end of a conductor.
The pliers are not hammers but with that said.
If you use them as a hammer make sure to use the side with the fixed rivet not the side that has our IDEAL logo to prevent damage to the rivet.
