This video shows you how to make your own backless (Iyengar) yoga chair starting with a folding metal chair purchased at Wal-Mart for around $10. You’ll need a large flathead screwdriver, a pair of vice grips, a grinder for metal (if you don’t have a grinder try to rent or borrow one), eye protection like shop goggles, a dust mask, work gloves, matte black spray paint, Windex or other cleaner, rags or paper towels, masking tape to prevent scratching the original paint, a work table is handy, a hacksaw, some boxes for props, 2 nylon plugs (or something similar to plug holes in the front legs–epoxy will work too), and a blanket or two to prevent scratching the chair’s original paint. Some steps are repeated with variations to show you options.
